VOLUNTEER WITH US!
HELP CLEAN A STREAM

November 16, 2019
9:30am - 12:30pm

Meet in the front parking lot of Baker's Audio Visual
2195 N. Norcross Tucker Rd.
Norcross, GA 30071

We'll be giving a Norcross gateway site some TLC this year, cleaning out a watershed where 2 little streams converge, then flow into the nearby Beaver Ruin Creek.  This wooded area is filled with trash that gets washed off nearby streets and parking lots during storms, and settles on the ground when stream levels lower again after the storm water has rushed through. There is a lot to clean up - our goal is to keep it from being swept up in the next storm and sent further downstream
into the Altamaha River!

Here are some photos from our 2018 event:

Rivers Alive, a program of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division Outreach Program, has celebrated over 15 years of cleaning up Georgia's waterways. Throughout the history of Rivers Alive, over 369 thousand volunteers extracted 9.1 million pounds of garbage from 27.0 thousand miles of waterway. While these numbers indicate the tremendous impact this program has had on communities and their watersheds in the past, the numbers from the each successive year's cleanups indicate that Rivers Alive will continue to grow into the next decade.
